The Pink-footed Goose is a medium-sized goose with a grey-brown body, a dark head and neck, and characteristic pink legs and a pink-and-black bill.
Where to spot
Breeds in Greenland, Iceland, and Svalbard, wintering almost exclusively in Great Britain, Ireland, and the Low Countries. Look for them in coastal areas and agricultural fields.
How to spot
Identify by its relatively small size for a goose, dark head and neck contrasting with a paler grey body, and most distinctly, its pink bill and pink legs. They often form immense flocks, creating a spectacle.
When to spot
Best observed during the winter months (October to April) in its European wintering grounds. Large migratory flocks are visible in autumn and spring.

The Pink-footed Goose has one of the most concentrated wintering distributions of any goose species, with the vast majority of its population gathering in Northwestern Europe.
