Where to spot
Restricted to humid lowland forests in the western Amazon basin, found in eastern Peru, western Brazil, and parts of Bolivia.
How to spot
Listen for its loud, clear, and distinctive whistling song, which is the primary way to locate it. Look for it walking deliberately on the forest floor, often in areas with dense undergrowth.
When to spot
Active year-round, most vocal during the early morning and late afternoon.
Its rufous crown and forehead are quite vivid, making it one of the more visually striking antthrushes if you manage to get a good look.
