Where to spot
Widespread in the understory of humid tropical forests across South America, including the Amazon basin and parts of the Guianas.
How to spot
Look for it walking deliberately on the forest floor, often flicking leaves. Its loud, clear whistle is a good indicator of its presence. Stay still and be patient, as it can be shy.
When to spot
Active throughout the day, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. Can be found year-round.
