Spotted
An enigmatic and localized cotinga species endemic to the high Andes of Peru. It is a dark, rather secretive bird, typically found in dense montane scrub and forest edge.

High-altitude humid montane forests and dense scrub on the eastern slopes of the central Peruvian Andes.
How to spot
Look in dense undergrowth and bamboo thickets. It is often challenging to see, so listen for its distinctive, rather mournful whistles, which are the best way to locate it.
