Endemic to the humid montane forests of northern Venezuela, primarily in coastal mountain ranges.
How to spot
Look in the mid-story to subcanopy of montane forests. The male's distinct black head, green back, and yellow-orange breast are good field marks. Listen for its simple, high-pitched calls.
When to spot
Resident throughout the year. Most active during the early morning and late afternoon when foraging for fruits.
