Humid lowland and montane forests, particularly in the Guianan Shield (Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana), Venezuela, and northern Brazil.
How to spot
Often heard before seen. Listen for its incredibly loud, metallic 'BONK!' calls. Look for the male's pure white body and the long black wattle on its forehead.
When to spot
Year-round resident, but altitudinal migrant in some areas. Best observed during early mornings when males are vocal and displaying.
