Where to spot
Found across parts of East and Southern Africa, including Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, inhabiting rocky outcrops, inselbergs, and steep escarpments.
How to spot
Search in rocky terrain. Look for it perching conspicuously on boulders. The glossy black plumage with the distinct white forehead patch is unmistakable. Listen for its clear, melodious song.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most active during the breeding season (often wet season) when males are more vocal.
