A dark, elusive thrush with bright blue patches, endemic to the montane forests of Sri Lanka. It is known for its beautiful, whistling song.
Where to spot
Montane rainforests in the central highlands of Sri Lanka, often near streams and waterfalls.
How to spot
Listen for its rich, human-like whistling song. It is very shy and often seen briefly as it flies across open areas in the forest.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most vocal in the early morning and late afternoon.
