Where to spot
Breeds in taiga and mixed coniferous forests across Northern Eurasia; winters in broadleaf forests and cultivated areas across Southeast Asia.
How to spot
Look for it sallying for insects from perches in the mid-canopy or undergrowth. Listen for its distinctive 'dz-eet' call.
When to spot
Breeding season (summer) in northern latitudes; during migration (spring/autumn) across Eurasia, and winter (autumn to spring) in tropical Asia.
