The Little Chachalaca is a small member of the chachalaca family found in northeastern South America. It is characterized by its relatively small size and often reddish-brown plumage.
Where to spot
This species is distributed across northeastern South America, including the Guyanas (Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana) and parts of northern Brazil. It inhabits humid forests, dense scrub, and riparian woodlands.
How to spot
Locate them by their distinctive loud, chattering calls. They often move in small family groups, foraging in the mid-story of trees or on the forest floor. Scan dense vegetation along watercourses and forest edges.

Active throughout the year. The best chances for observation are during the early morning and late afternoon, when they are most vocal and engaged in foraging.
