Spotted
The Sulu Bleeding-heart is a pigeon species native to the Sulu Archipelago in the Philippines, now widely considered to be extinct. Its last confirmed sighting was in 1891, and extensive surveys have failed to rediscover it.
Where to spot
Historically inhabited the lowland forests of the Sulu Archipelago, particularly the islands of Tawi-Tawi and Jolo, in the southern Philippines. There is no current known population.
How to spot
This species is believed to be extinct, so direct observation in the wild is not possible. Information on its habits comes from historical records and museum specimens. Any potential sighting would be of immense scientific importance, but is highly improbable.
When to spot
As an extinct species, observation in the wild is not possible. Historically, like other bleeding-heart pigeons, it would have been active during the day, foraging on the forest floor.

The Sulu Bleeding-heart is one of the most enigmatic and likely extinct birds in the Philippines, having not been reliably recorded for over a century, likely due to massive deforestation on its native islands.
