The Spectacled Parrotlet is a small, predominantly green parrotlet found in northwestern South America, named for the pale blue eye-ring (spectacles) on the male.
Where to spot
Humid lowland and foothill forests, and cultivated areas in eastern Panama, Colombia, and western Venezuela.
How to spot
Look for the male's blue eye-ring and blue on the wing-bend and rump. Listen for their soft, high-pitched calls. Patience is key as they can be inconspicuous.
When to spot
Best seen during early morning and late afternoon when foraging. It is a resident species.
