Spotted
The Dusky-billed Parrotlet is a very small, predominantly green parrotlet found in the Amazon basin, distinguished by its dark, dusky bill and subtle blue patches on the male's wings.
Where to spot
Humid lowland rainforests throughout the Amazon basin, including parts of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, and Bolivia.
How to spot
Look for its tiny size and the dusky bill. Listen for its soft, high-pitched 'tsip' calls. Males will show a subtle blue rump and wing patch.
When to spot
Best seen during early morning and late afternoon when foraging. It is a resident.
Dusky-billed Parrotlets are often found foraging quietly in the upper canopy, making them challenging to spot despite their vibrant color.
