The Golden-plumed Parakeet is a distinctive green parakeet with a bright yellow stripe behind its eye and a long, pointed tail. It is found in high-altitude Andean forests.
Where to spot
Humid montane cloud forests and elfin forests along the Andes of Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
How to spot
Look for small, noisy flocks moving through the canopy. Listen for their distinctive, reedy calls. They can be elusive in dense fog typical of their cloud forest habitat.

Year-round. Most active during early morning and late afternoon.
