Where to spot
Afromontane forests and coastal forests of southern Africa.
How to spot
Look for groups flying rapidly over the canopy or feeding in tall forest trees. Listen for their sharp, high-pitched calls that carry well in the forest.
When to spot
Year-round, active during daylight hours.
This parrot is highly dependent on specific Yellowwood tree species for its diet, particularly the seeds and fruit, making conservation of these trees vital.
