Found in the Lesser Sunda Islands of Indonesia, including Timor, Flores, Sumba, and others. Inhabits monsoon forests, secondary growth, and woodlands.
How to spot
Look for its rusty-brown back, greyish head, and pale underparts. Listen for its strong, clear, and melodic whistled calls, which are typical of the whistler family and often reveal its presence.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most vocal during the breeding season, typically when males are establishing territories and attracting mates.
