The Pallid Harrier is a slender, long-winged raptor noted for its extremely buoyant and graceful flight. It breeds across Eastern Europe and Central Asia, undertaking long migrations to wintering grounds further south.

Breeds in steppes, grasslands, and open plains across Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Winters primarily in parts of the Middle East, Africa, and India.
How to spot
Look for its very light, buoyant flight, often with wings held in a shallow V. Males are very pale grey with black wedge-shaped wingtips; females and juveniles are browner with a distinctive dark patch under the primary tips.
When to spot
Best observed during spring and autumn migration when they pass through various regions. During the breeding season (summer), they can be found in their core range.
