Where to spot
Open woodlands, savannas, arid scrub, and cultivated areas from southern Mexico through Central America to northern South America.
How to spot
Look for its small size, black upperparts, white underparts, distinctive white forehead patch, and bright yellow eyes. Often seen hovering briefly or perching on exposed branches and power lines.
When to spot
Year-round, typically seen during daylight hours, often perching conspicuously. Most active in the morning and late afternoon.
