The Nilgiri Pipit is an endemic pipit species restricted to the high-altitude grasslands of the Nilgiri Hills in southern India. It is a habitat specialist.

Endemic to the high-altitude grasslands of the Nilgiri Hills and adjacent ranges in the Western Ghats of southern India.
How to spot
Requires visiting the specific high-altitude grasslands. Look for it foraging on the ground. Its calls and display flights are important for identification.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Best observed during the breeding season when males perform display flights.
