How to spot
Scan the mid to upper canopy of fruiting trees. Look for the distinct purple cap. Listen for its characteristic soft, mournful coo, which can sometimes be the first indication of its presence. They can be well-hidden despite their bright colors.

Resident throughout its range. Most active during the early morning and late afternoon when foraging for fruits. It is observable year-round.
