Spotted
The Ash-throated Antwren is a small, subtly colored antwren characterized by its greyish throat and overall dusky plumage. It inhabits the mid-story of humid forests.
Where to spot
Eastern slope of the Andes in northern Bolivia.
How to spot
Look for it in the mid-story of humid foothill and lower montane forests. Listen for its high-pitched, deliberate calls. It can be difficult to discern from other antwrens, so careful observation of plumage and call is needed.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Best observed during early morning activity.
This species is often found in mixed-species flocks, quietly gleaning insects from leaves and small branches, a common foraging strategy among many antwrens in the Neotropical understory.
