Spotted
The Yellow-breasted Antwren is a small, colorful antwren characterized by its bright yellow breast and underparts. It inhabits the mid-story of humid montane cloud forests.
Where to spot
Disjunct populations in humid montane forests: one in the northern Andes (Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela) and another in the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil.
How to spot
Look for it in the mid-story and lower canopy of humid cloud forests. It often joins mixed-species flocks. Its bright yellow underparts are a key visual identifier, even in dim light.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Best observed during early mornings when foraging activity is high.
This species is another endemic to the highly biodiverse and threatened Atlantic Forest of Brazil, making it a priority for conservation efforts due to its specialized habitat requirements.
