The Spotted Antwren is a small, distinctive antwren characterized by its spotted plumage, particularly on its back and wings. It inhabits the mid-story of humid montane forests.
Where to spot
Endemic to the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil (from Bahia south to Rio Grande do Sul), extending into Paraguay and northeastern Argentina.
How to spot
Look for it in the mid-story and sub-canopy of humid primary and mature secondary Atlantic Forest. It often joins mixed-species flocks. Its spotted plumage is a good visual clue if observed well.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Best observed during early mornings when active.
