Where to spot
Endemic to the understory of humid lowland and foothill forests of the Atlantic Forest in southeastern Brazil.
How to spot
Listen for its strong, whistled song. Look for it on the forest floor or low in dense vegetation. Its white bib is a clear identification mark.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most active during the early morning and late afternoon.
This species often forages by flinging leaves aside with its bill, a behavior known as 'leaf-tossing,' to uncover hidden prey.
