Southwestern Amazon Basin in Brazil, particularly along the Madeira and Tapajós rivers, and adjacent parts of Bolivia.
How to spot
Look for it in the mid-story and lower canopy of humid primary and mature secondary forests. It often joins mixed-species flocks. Listen for its distinctive, accelerating trill song.
