The Dull-mantled Antbird is a small, relatively plain antbird species with a dull olive-brown plumage. It is typically found in humid forest undergrowth.
Where to spot
Inhabits the understory of humid lowland and foothill forests, often near streams, from Costa Rica to western Ecuador.
How to spot
Look for them in dense tangles and along stream beds. Listening for their soft, whistling calls is often the best way to locate them.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most active during the early morning and late afternoon.
This species is often found in pairs, foraging quietly in the dense understory, making them challenging to spot.
