The White-throated Greenbul is a rather plain olive-green bulbul distinguished by a subtle pale or whitish throat, contrasting slightly with its breast. It is a secretive forest inhabitant.
Where to spot
Found in West and Central Africa, inhabiting the understory of primary and mature secondary rainforests, often in dense thickets and vine tangles.
How to spot
Look for the subtle pale throat patch, which can be hard to see in dim forest light. Listen for its calls, which often provide the best clue to its presence. Patience is crucial.
When to spot
Observable year-round in its resident tropical habitat. Most active during daylight hours, particularly early morning and late afternoon.
This species is known to be a diligent gleaner, methodically searching leaves and twigs for insects, often flicking its tail and wings as it moves through the undergrowth.
