Spotted

Where to spot
Found in forests, woodlands, and scrubland across Southeast Asia, often in dense vegetation and bamboo thickets.
How to spot
Look in the mid-to-lower levels of dense forest. It can be quite secretive, but its distinctive appearance, especially the puffed back, makes it identifiable if seen well. Listen for its melodious song.
When to spot
Year-round, as it is a resident species in its range.
The unique 'puff-back' display might be used in courtship, territorial displays, or as a visual signal within its social groups in dense vegetation.
