The Black-headed Bulbul is a striking species with a glossy black head that strongly contrasts with its bright yellow belly and olive-green back. It is a common and active bird of diverse wooded habitats.
Where to spot
Widespread across Southeast Asia, from Thailand to Indonesia. Found in forests, open woodlands, plantations, and gardens.
How to spot
Look for it in trees and shrubs, particularly near fruiting plants. Its contrasting black head and yellow belly make it relatively easy to spot, and its calls are quite distinct.
When to spot
Year-round, as it is a common resident species.
