The Peruvian Antbird is a medium-sized antbird species, with males being predominantly grey and black, and females exhibiting a browner plumage. It is a more recently described species in the genus Myrmoborus.
Where to spot
Known only from a restricted range within the humid lowland forests of eastern Peru, specifically the department of Ucayali.
How to spot
Requires visiting its specific known locations. Search in the forest understory, often associated with army ant swarms. Listen for its unique vocalizations.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Best observed during the dry season months when forest trails might be more accessible.
