The Seychelles Blue-Pigeon (Alectroenas pulcherrimus) is a magnificent and rare pigeon endemic to the granitic islands of the Seychelles. It is easily recognizable by its vibrant blue and red plumage, making it one of the most colorful birds in the archipelago.
Where to spot
Endemic to the granitic inner islands of the Seychelles, including Mahé, Praslin, La Digue, Silhouette, and Fregate. Primarily inhabits native forest, secondary growth, and even well-wooded gardens.
How to spot
Look in the canopy of fruiting trees; they are often found feeding. Their bright colors can make them noticeable, even amongst foliage. Be patient and use binoculars to appreciate their intricate plumage. Listen for their deep cooing calls.

Observable year-round. Dawn and dusk are often good times as they move to and from roosting sites. Fruit availability may influence their localized movements.
