Burnes's Bush Warbler is a secretive, medium-sized warbler-like bird typically found in tall grasslands and reedbeds, named after its discoverer Alexander Burnes. It's more often heard than seen, known for its distinctive song.
Where to spot
Found across South Asia, including parts of Pakistan, India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Inhabits tall grasslands, reeds, sugarcane fields, and wet cultivation.
How to spot
Listen for its loud, rich, and musical song, often a series of whistles and trills. Look for it briefly perching atop tall grass stalks or reeds, especially in the morning or late afternoon, before it dives back into cover.
When to spot
Resident year-round in much of its range, though some populations might show local movements. Most vocal and visible during the breeding season (monsoon to post-monsoon) when males sing from prominent perches.

This species has a characteristic 'skulking' behavior, often staying hidden deep within dense grass, making it a challenge to spot even when close.
