How to spot
Listen for its deep, resonant hoots which can carry through the forest. Spotlighting at night might reveal individuals perched in trees. Look for their distinctively colored legs if you get a clear view.
When to spot
Primarily nocturnal. Observation is best undertaken at night, especially by listening for their calls during the breeding season.
