The Eastern Pygmy Berrypecker is a minute and inconspicuous bird endemic to eastern New Guinea. It is an extremely small and difficult-to-spot inhabitant of rainforests.
Where to spot
Endemic to eastern New Guinea, inhabiting lowland and hill rainforests, typically found from sea level up to around 1,200 meters, preferring the forest understory.
How to spot
Requires exceptional patience and keen eyesight. Look for a very tiny, dull-colored bird moving quickly through dense undergrowth. Its calls are extremely high-pitched and easily missed.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Active during daylight hours. Its small size makes it very challenging to observe, so focus on early morning activity.
