The Rufous-booted Racket-tail is a charming hummingbird, similar to other racket-tails but distinguished by its rufous-colored leg tufts. Males also sport characteristic racketed tail feathers.
Where to spot
Found in humid montane forests and forest edges in the eastern Andes of Peru, extending into parts of Bolivia.
How to spot
Observe it feeding at flowers in the understory or at forest edges. Pay close attention to the color of its leg tufts and the male's unique tail streamers for identification.
When to spot
Year-round, active during daylight hours, especially mornings and late afternoons for foraging.
