Spotted
The Kilimanjaro White-eye is a small, agile passerine endemic to the upper slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Characterized by its typical white eye-ring and yellowish-green plumage, it is well-adapted to its unique high-altitude environment.
Where to spot
Found exclusively in the montane forests, scrubland, and ericaceous moorland on Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. Seek it in mid-to-upper elevations.
How to spot
Look for small, yellowish-green birds actively foraging in the canopy and undergrowth, often in small, mixed-species flocks. Listen for their distinctive high-pitched, twittering calls.
When to spot
Active year-round, primarily during the early morning and late afternoon when foraging for insects and nectar.
