The Santa Cruz White-eye is a species endemic to the Santa Cruz Islands in the Solomon Islands. It is a small, greenish-yellow bird with a prominent white eye-ring.
Where to spot
Found on several islands within the Santa Cruz Islands, Solomon Islands, inhabiting forests and forest edges.
How to spot
Look for small, active birds in the canopy and undergrowth. Listen for their high-pitched, twittering calls as they move in small flocks.
When to spot
Active year-round, with peak foraging in the mornings and late afternoons.
This species highlights the unique island biodiversity of the Santa Cruz group, which hosts several restricted-range bird species.
