The Large Lifou White-eye is a distinctive species endemic to Lifou Island in the Loyalty Islands of New Caledonia. It is notable for its relatively large size among white-eyes and a prominent white eye-ring.
Where to spot
Endemic to Lifou Island, Loyalty Islands (New Caledonia), inhabiting forests and dense scrub.
How to spot
Look for a noticeably larger white-eye with a prominent white eye-ring, moving through the canopy and mid-story. Listen for its strong, varied vocalizations.
When to spot
Active year-round. Most visible during early morning and late afternoon when foraging.
