Berlepsch's Antbird is a distinctive army-ant follower, characterized by its dark plumage, rufous crown, and a large area of bare blue facial skin.
Where to spot
Inhabits the understory of humid lowland forests in the central Amazon basin of Brazil, south of the Amazon River.
How to spot
Locate army ant swarms. They are often quite conspicuous near ant fronts. The rufous cap and bare blue facial skin are key identification features.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Best observed during early morning and late afternoon when army ants are active.
