Spotted
The Guttulated Foliage-gleaner is a Furnariid with fine streaking or 'guttulations' on its throat and breast. It is an active forager of humid montane forests.
Where to spot
Found in humid montane and cloud forests of the Andes, from Venezuela to southern Peru.
How to spot
Scan the mid-story and understory of montane forests. Look for its active gleaning movements and the subtle guttulations if seen well. Listen for its distinctive calls.
When to spot
Active year-round. Most visible during early mornings, often in mixed-species flocks.
The subtle streaking on its underparts provides camouflage against the dappled light of the forest interior, helping it blend into its environment while foraging.
