The Green Honeycreeper is a medium-sized, highly distinctive tanager-like bird. Males are primarily bright green with a black mask and a unique yellow-tipped, strongly decurved bill. Females are entirely green.
Where to spot
Widespread across humid lowland and foothill forests from southern Mexico south through Central and South America to Bolivia and southern Brazil.
How to spot
Look for it actively feeding on nectar or fruit. The male's black mask and unique bill shape are excellent identification points.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most active in the morning, often found at flowering or fruiting trees.
