Fischer's Turaco is a distinctively marked and beautiful turaco species of East Africa, recognizable by its vibrant green body, bright red bill, and unique white-edged red eye-ring. It possesses a short, rounded crest.
Where to spot
Found along the coastal regions of East Africa, ranging from southern Somalia through Kenya to northern Tanzania. Inhabits coastal forests, riverine thickets, and dense woodlands.
How to spot
Listen for their loud, repeated 'kow-kow-kow' or 'cra-cra-cra' calls. Look for their bright red bill and the striking red and white eye-ring as they move through the upper and mid-canopy of trees.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most active during the cooler parts of the day, particularly early morning and late afternoon, when they are foraging.
