Listen for their loud, repeated 'kow-kow-kow' or 'cra-cra-cra' calls. Look for their bright red bill and the striking red and white eye-ring as they move through the upper and mid-canopy of trees.

Year-round resident. Most active during the cooler parts of the day, particularly early morning and late afternoon, when they are foraging.
