The Fiery Minivet is a vibrant bird endemic to the Greater Sunda Islands of Southeast Asia. Males exhibit a striking contrast of black and brilliant red, while females are marked with yellow and grey.
Where to spot
Inhabits a variety of forest types, from lowland rainforests to montane forests, across the Greater Sunda Islands (Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Bali).
How to spot
Scan the upper and middle layers of the forest canopy. Look for their bright flashes of red or yellow as they move. Their calls are high-pitched and melodious.
When to spot
Active during the day, frequently observed in the mid-story and canopy of trees. They are resident birds in their range, observable all year.
