Spotted
The Yunnan Parrotbill is a small, elusive species found in the montane forests of southern China and northern Vietnam. It is typically found in dense undergrowth and bamboo.
Where to spot
Found in southern China (Yunnan, Guangxi, Guizhou) and northern Vietnam. Inhabits montane evergreen and mixed forests with dense undergrowth and bamboo thickets.
How to spot
Look for its small size, plain brownish plumage, and short, stout bill. It is often found in small, active flocks, moving through dense vegetation. Listen for its high-pitched, thin calls.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Most active during the day. Observing it might be easier during the breeding season (spring-summer) when it is more vocal.
Despite its somewhat plain appearance, this parrotbill contributes to the rich avian diversity of the biodiverse mountains of Yunnan province.
