David's Fulvetta is a charming and small bird found in the mountains of central China. It is often found in dense bamboo and scrub within montane forests.
Where to spot
Endemic to central China, primarily in Sichuan, Gansu, Shaanxi, and Hubei provinces. Inhabits montane evergreen forests, especially with dense bamboo and undergrowth.
How to spot
Look for its small size and general dull brownish plumage with a rufous cap and plain face. It is often found in small, active flocks. Listen for its thin, high-pitched, often trilling calls.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Most active during the day. Best observed during the breeding season (spring-summer) when it is more vocal.
