The Enggano Thrush is an endemic species to Enggano Island, off the coast of Sumatra. It is a secretive, mostly plain-brown thrush with a whitish throat.
Where to spot
Lowland rainforests of Enggano Island, Indonesia. It prefers undisturbed primary forest.
How to spot
Extremely difficult to observe due to its rarity and critically endangered status. Requires dedicated effort in the remaining patches of forest on Enggano. Quiet observation is essential.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Active during the cooler parts of the day.
This thrush is critically endangered due to the rapid destruction of its forest habitat on the small island of Enggano.
