The Unicolored Antshrike is a rather plain-plumaged antshrike, uniformly slate-grey in males and rufous-brown in females. It is a resident of humid montane forests.

Dense undergrowth of humid montane and cloud forests, typically at higher elevations in the Andes (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru).
How to spot
Listen for its distinctive, accelerating 'whip-whip-whip' call. Scan the dense foliage and mossy branches patiently. Often found in pairs, moving quietly through the vegetation.

Resident year-round. Most active and vocal during the early morning. Calls are frequent, especially during the breeding season.
