Finsch's Parakeet is a medium-sized green parakeet with a distinctive red patch on its forehead and sometimes on its wing bend. It is found in Central America.
Where to spot
Humid and dry forests, forest edges, and cultivated areas, from southern Mexico to western Panama. Also feral populations in North America and Europe.
How to spot
Look for noisy flocks flying overhead or feeding in fruiting trees. Their calls are harsh and constant. The red forehead is a key identification mark.
When to spot
Year-round. Most active during the early morning and late afternoon when foraging and moving between roosts.
