Humid lowland and foothill forests, forest edges, and secondary growth in the western Amazon basin, including parts of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil.
How to spot
Look for the striking blue on the wing as they fly past. Their calls are high-pitched and somewhat reedy. They are often seen in small, cohesive flocks.
When to spot
Best observed in the early morning and late afternoon when active. It is present throughout the year.
