The Spotted Parakeet is a medium-sized green parakeet with a distinctive scattering of yellow spots on its head and chest, found in the Amazon basin.
Where to spot
Lowland humid forests, especially near watercourses, in the Amazon basin of Brazil, the Guianas, and Suriname.
How to spot
Look for them in the canopy and at the edges of humid forests. Listen for their typical Aratinga screeches, which indicate their presence. Binoculars are helpful to discern the subtle spotting.
When to spot
Year-round. Most active during the early morning and late afternoon.
